The members of Sustainable Earth act as lobbyists by initiating conversations with university administrators in attempts to influence them to make changes to facilities and policies to improve CMU’s environmental impact and dedication to sustainable principles.
In February 2019, 302 students signed a petition supporting the establishment of an Office of Sustainability at CMU as many of our peer institutions already have one. This petition was sent to President Jahanian.
To continue mounting pressure on our administrators to make commitments to sustainability, the advocacy group within Sustainable Earth decided to write a new letter to the President once again demanding the establish Office of Sustainability as well as some new initiatives. Read the letter here.
This letter was also presented to Student Senate where it was met with a lot of support.
